Our philosophy is to follow as an organic model as possible. In nature, we do not observe large flocks of birds lining up to take off and land one at a time. By mimicking what we observe in nature, we can have a more versatile and robust system of travel. Instead of transforming the landscape to suit our purposes, we believe that adapting to it is a more logical and ecologically sound solution.
Amphibious aircraft offer far more capability and versatility than runway-restricted aircraft. They offer increased safety, a rugged shape, a more comfortable interior, and extra capacity for a marginal increase in cost.
Harbor Aviation’s vision is to ultimately relieve the congestion at our airports and freeways by using water bodies and smaller under-utilized runways.
Currently, about 40% of all takeoffs and landings at US airports are by small, regional type aircraft. Yet these aircraft transport only 20% of the passengers. By developing a runway independent travel solution, people and cargo can travel much faster without the bottleneck of the airport.
Harbor Aviation believes that at least 10% of the passenger air travel in the US could be transported by small amphibious aircraft within 15 years. This will reduce overcrowding at airports, and allow airports to be used for longer range travel.
Traveling by air is the most efficient method of travel. By offering amphibious air travel solutions, the dependence on massive concrete runway landscapes and freeways will be reduced.
